Quantum Dots, Coated Oxides & Enviro-compatible Materials

Quantum Dots Nanostructures and Optoelectronics

Quantum dots are nanoparticles with the so-called quantum size effect. We are advancing novel methods to develop synthesis and surface functionalisation of quantum dots for potential future applications.

Wet-chemistry-based Coating Science & Device Engineering

Solution-based processing based on sol-gel method is being investigated for preparation of oxide film. The first step of the processing is to synthesize a stable colloidal solution (i.e. ink) of the metal oxides, followed by coating, for example, with spin-coating or ink-jet printing for producing 20-1000 nm films. These oxides (e.g., titania, iron oxide, composite silica-titania, titania-iron oxide...and so on) are being investigated as transparent coating in solar cells and active layers in supercapacitors and batteries.

Life-compatible Materials

The bio-enviro research on nanomaterials is one of the most important subjects for human beings. We are focusing our research on enviro-compatible materials and their nanotoxicology.
