Course Description

We welcome all visitors to our sessions. If you are a registered Tsing Hua student, you may take this seminar series for university credit.

Requirements for Credit

To take the Seminar Series for University Credit you must:

A. Register for the course (PME5000). There are no prerequisites. Enrollment is open to graduates and undergraduates in any school or department at National Tsing Hua University.  (talk to the instructor and get signature if you are not a student at National Tsing Hua University.)

B. Attend at least 9 of the 11 sessions offered. Attendance is credited by means of a sign-up sheet that is passed around at each session.

C. Write two end of semester papers. The first paper (summary report), less than 4 pages, summarizes key points and common themes that arose during the different sessions.  The second paper (technical report), at least 5 pages including figures, focuses on the topics relating to at least one of our seminar talks.  The papers should be submitted in a CD format to TA (陳鍵瑜) by the 12:00 on Monday, June 11, 2007. The end of semester papers could be written in either Chinese or English.

Grading:

      • Weekly attending seminar:  7%x10=70% (maximum)
      • End of semester summarization paper (graded only for attending at least 9 seminar talks)10%  (late submission : – 25 points/day)
      • End of semester project paper (graded only for attending at least 9 seminar talks): 20%  (late submission : – 25 points/day)
      • Extra 5% reserved for the students attending 11 sessions and submitting all end of semester papers.
