Carpathian Lekvar Cake


 

1 cup butter

1 cup sugar

2 beaten eggs

1 cps ground walnuts

3 cups sifted flour

¾ cup lekvar (prune butter)

 

Cream butter and sugar with electric mixer, add eggs.  With spoon, add nuts and sifted flour.  Take half and roll it out and place in on a greased 12 X 13 inch pan.  Spread with a layer of lekvar.  Roll out the rest of the dough and place on top.  Bake at about 170C until light brown (about 35 minutes).  When cool, sprinkle with powdered sugar and cut into squares.
