Chapter 11
在這兒我們看到說話時帶著濃濃法國口音的羅賓漢(Robin Hood)出現了，並引吭高歌。這首歌的歌詞頗有趣。Robin Hood說道，"I like an honest fight and a saucy little maid"，接著弓箭手說道，"What he’s basically saying is he likes to get ---" 此時另一個男人回答"paid"。其實美國人會期待的答案是"laid"，表示他喜歡從事性行為。(舉例：有一首有趣的公雞歌-the rooster song，這首歌中所提到的公雞，當然不下蛋(laying eggs)，而且喜歡的是和母雞上床(laying hens)!
然後這個男人唱道，"When an ogre in the bush grabs a lady by the tush, that’s bad." Tush 或 tushie 指的是臀部(the buttocks)，或是比較難聽的說法：屁股(ass)。較有創意的說法是："the permanent vertical smile"(永恆的微笑，但是垂直的)。
Princess Fiona居然能夠打倒Robin Hood，Shrek覺得很訝異並說，"Hold the phone. Whoa whoa whoa hold on now. Where did that come from?" 這是另一種表達"Wait a minute." 的說法。Whoa的意思是拉住韁繩(pulling on the horses reins)，命令馬匹停住。
Chapter 12
Donkey在這裡提到他的動物本能(animal instincts)。對於人類來說，屬於「動物」的部分是較基礎的。人應該用理智去控制自己，使行為舉止不像動物的天性，並且表現的比動物還要好。然而，也有人認為，因為動物都直接運用本能行事，不會耍心機，有時候反而較能看清事實。所以，本能是否建立在事實的基礎上，是個可思考的問題。
Donkey在跟Shrek說話時，提到費洛蒙(pherenomes)這個字。"Wake up and smell the pherenomes." 科學家指出，費洛蒙是動物為了吸引異性交配，所發出的氣味。
Chapter 13
cast a spell -我們都知道啦，這個片語來自Harry Potter，是施咒的意思。
