Syllabus:
Week 1--5 : Kinetic theory of gas and molecular collisions, continuum mechanics, Boltzmann equation, chapman-Enskog expansion, Lattice Boltzmann method.
Week 6--8 : Linear response theory, fluctuation dissipation theorem, transport coefficients.
Week 9--12: Magnetic phase transitions, Ising model, critical phenomena and related exponents, Landau's theory
Week 13--15: Kadanoff's renormalization group theory, scaling theory, finite-size scaling analysis
