Special Session on Evolutionary Computation in Intelligent Transportation Systems

 

Aim and Scope:

Transportation serves as an important task in modern human life and industry activities. Optimization for intelligent transportation systems has shown to be a difficult problem. The worldwide division of labor, the connection of distributed centers, and the increased mobility of individuals, furthermore, lead to an increased demand for efficient solutions to solve the problems in transportation networks. Evolutionary computation plays a significant role and has gained promising results in optimization of transportation networks.

The aim of this special session is to promote research and reflect the most recent advances of evolutionary computation in in intelligent transportation systems. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

Rung-Tzuo Liaw

Dr. Liaw obtained his bachelor degree of science from National Taiwan University in 2009 and the PhD degree from National Chung Cheng University in Taiwan in 2017. He is an honor member of Phi Tau Phi scholastic honor society since 2014. Dr. Liaw has published several journal and international conference papers. He won the first runner-up prize of IEEE Congress on Evolutionary Computation 2017 Competition on Multitask Optimization. He is currently a postdoctoral research fellow at National Tsing Hua University. His research interests include evolutionary computation, multitask optimization, machine learning, data mining, and surrogate-assisted evolutionary algorithms.

 

Chuan-Kang Ting

Chuan-Kang Ting (S¡¦01¡VM¡¦06­¡VSM¡¦13) received the B.S. degree from National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan, in 1994, the M.S. degree from National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan, in 1996, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Paderborn, Germany, in 2005. He is currently a Professor at Department of Power Mechanical Engineering, National Tsing Hua University, Taiwan. His research interests are in evolutionary computation, computational intelligence, metaheuristic algorithms, and their applications in transportation and logistics networks, bioinformatics, music and games. He is an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Emerging Topics in Computational Intelligence, and an Editorial Board Member of Soft Computing and Memetic Computing journals. He chaired the AI Forum 2012 and co-chaired the 2013 IEEE Symposium on Computational Intelligence for Creativity and Affective Computing.

 

Hui Cheng

Hui Cheng received the BSc and the MSc degrees in Computer Science from Northeastern University, China in 2001 and 2004, and the PhD degree in Computer Science from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong in 2007. He is currently a Senior Lecturer at School of Computer Science, University of Hertfordshire, UK. His research interests include artificial intelligence, dynamic optimization, cloud computing, optical networks, mobile ad hoc networks, and QoS routing.
