Vacuum-deposited perovskite light-emitting diode.
Perovskite emitters have narrow linewidths, tunable colors and near-unity quantum yields, giving a color gamut beyond current LCD and OLED displays. We develop perovskite light-emitting diodes by both vacuum deposition and solution processing, together with the emissive nanocrystals behind them.
Vacuum deposition is the manufacturing route of the existing display industry: solvent-free, uniform over large substrates and easily pixelated. Our group demonstrated the first vacuum-deposited organometallic halide perovskite LEDs, and has since reached external quantum efficiency above 10% through control of precursor stoichiometry and emission-layer crystallinity, and 14.83% with luminance above 164,000 cd m−2 in all-vacuum-deposited devices using guanidinium doping and an ultrathin lithium bromide interlayer.
